Automatically ports get disabled

A port can become disabled due to an error or unexpected behavior of the device connected to that port.
To see if a port became disabled issue the show interface command. The line status of the port will be shown as err-disabled.
The reason why port became err-disabled usually logged and can be seen in the output of the show logg command.

Some IOS versions will allow you to issue the show interface status err-disabled to see the disabled ports with the cause.

There is a feature to automatically recover (enable) disabled ports. This feature can be enabled for all the causes by issuing the following commands:
configure terminal
errdisable recovery cause all
or for each cause independently:
errdisable recovery cause bpduguard

Remember that error disabled ports usually involve a misconfiguration and should be investigated before or right after re-enabling the ports.
